The city proposes to develop a portion of the Northwest Quadrant just north of the Casa Solana neighborhood. We, in Casa Solana, are primarily concerned about the thousands of automobile trips per day plus the construction traffic that will be generated by the proposed 750-900 homes and potentially routed through our neighborhood via Camino de las Crucitas and Alamo Drive. These city streets are not designed to handle that volume of traffic. We are concerned that turning these streets into thoroughfares will split our neighborhood, just as St. Francis Drive and Paseo de Peralta did to their adjacent neighborhoods. There must be a solution to the traffic problem before construction begins.
Below is an announcement of the Early Neighborhood Notice meeting regarding this proposed development. This may be your best chance to make known your thoughts and express your concerns about the impact on your neighborhood. Please plan to attend this meeting. Bring your neighbors with you. The more people in attendance, the more likely your concerns will be heard by the city. City councilors may be at the meeting.
Two maps that accompanied the ENN, because of their large size, will be sent to you attached to a separate e-mail.

RE: EARLY NEIGHBORHOOD NOTIFICATION MEETING Dear Property Owner:
In accordance with the requirements of the City of Santa Fe’s Early Neighborhood Notification ordinance, this is to inform you that a meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 28, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gonzales Elementary School located, at 851 W. Alameda to discuss the Northwest Quadrant Master Plan.
The Northwest Quadrant master plan area is approximately 540 acres in size, out of which approximately 280 acres is envisioned for future development of between 700 to 900 homes. The remainder of the area is envisioned as natural preserves, open spaces and pedestrian trail networks. As a result of community input in 2005 and 2006, Resolution 2006-96 was approved by the City Council to designate the southern 174 acres of the master plan area for open space and trails.
The master plan is envisioned to address the community desires and goals of containing a substantial number of affordably-priced and moderately-priced housing; employing sustainable development practices focusing on water conservation, green building techniques, low energy use and other innovative features; representing an economically and socially diverse community; harmonizing with existing and adjacent residential, commercial and recreational uses; reflecting the goals and desires of the public through and inclusive public process; and developing a traffic plan in coordination with the City’s General Plan and alternative transportation goals.
The Early Neighborhood Notification ordinance provides for an exchange of information between prospective applicants for development projects and the people who will be neighbors to the project.
